can't get notifications to stop i think my site has been hacked

  I would like to take down the ability for people to follow or register on my site. I continue to receive 100’s of emails a day saying people have registered and I want to get the ability to do that off this. I have tred to go to my site and settings to make this site private but it doesn’t allow me to do this. It appears the site is not even there…very confusing but I want it taken down except I want to keep my domain name which I hosted go daddy.
