Can’t get rid of AI splash screen

Apologies if this has been asked -and answered- before. I’m new to workpress.com. Every time I try to edit my website, the blue AI splash screen (“Make a website as unique as you”) pops up and I can’t get rid of it. Clicking the exit button -and confirming to exit- either brings me back to my home space, or does nothing; but it does not allow me to access the block editor. I managed to circumvent it somehow a few times, but not lately. I tried on Chrome, Firefox, and the WordPress.com app, and cleared the cache of my browsers; problem continues. It’s frustrating that I am not able to build my website. Anybody have any thoughts?

What likely happened is that your site was first created through the AI Site Builder flow unintentionally, which shows that splash screen until you complete or exit the setup.To start a new site with a theme instead, you can do that by going to My Site(s) → Add New Site → Start with a theme. That will take you straight into the block editor without going through the AI builder.
