    Hi all,

For some reason, whatever I do, I can’t get rid of (or edit) the header or particularly the footer of a new theme I’m using.

I have no idea where it’s hidden!

It’s the Tenaz theme, and I’m going mad……

    Help!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having difficulty editing or removing the header and footer of the Tenaz theme on your WordPress site. It can be frustrating when you’re unable to locate where these elements are controlled. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and gain control over the header and footer:

    1. Theme Options or Customizer: Check if the theme offers specific options or settings within the WordPress Customizer or a dedicated theme options panel. Look for options related to the header and footer customization. This is often the easiest and recommended way to modify these elements without directly editing theme files.
    2. Widget Areas: Headers and footers in WordPress themes are often built using widget areas. Go to the Appearance > Widgets section in your WordPress admin dashboard and look for widget areas specifically assigned to the header or footer. Try adding, removing, or editing widgets within these areas to modify the content.
    3. Page Builders or Customization Plugins: If you’re using a page builder or customization plugin on your site, it’s possible that the header and footer are controlled through their interface instead of the theme settings. Check if there are any specific options within the page builder or customization plugin that allow you to modify or customize the header and footer.

Lastly, check the theme files via FTP if that is an option

Remember to clear your site and browser cache after making any changes to ensure that you’re viewing the latest version of your site.

    I hope this helps!

  • Hi @humerasupportengineer the theme Tenaz is a Site Editor theme which means it doesn’t have any Customizer or Widgets sections – you can find out more about it here:
    https://wordpress.com/theme/tenaz

Hi @criticalpopcorn Both your header and footer sections of your template(s) within Tenaz can be edited from the Site Editor, which is located under Appearance > Editor. If you’re new to the Site Editor, it is in summary a much more flexible way of handling themes, layouts, colour schemes, and more. We do have several resources if you’re looking to make changes to the template appearance! I’ll link some of them here so you have a starting point:

Hey there, so (might be crossing over threads a little but my example below), I can access everything to get to the right place, but when there, the template is shows me to edit disappears when you click ‘in’ to edit it. i.e. trying to change the bottom part and access it:

But when in that edit screen, it turns into this:

With no access to that ‘text’ at the bottom, and no way to delete or alter it

I added a separate footer on that screen, and pushed it above it, but you’ll see on the site itself, it still exists even though it’s not in the editor itself (as if it’s locked somewhere else)

The same applies to the social icons in the header, there’s not there in the Library to edit?

    Any clues?! :)

  • Hey there,

It looks like we may be crossing threads a little bit.

Are these the screenshots referenced here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/editing-header-footer-not-displaying/ ?
