can't get rid of sidebar in twenty ten!

  How do I use a template that reduces Twenty Ten to one column? I have looked in every menu, but have not been able to get rid of the “search” box and “Archive” and “Meta” widgets (??) on the sidebar. Yet, at two places it says that Twenty Ten can be formatted for a single column.

  When editing a page you can select a ‘Template’ on the right hand side. Here you can select the ‘One Column, No Sidebar’ setting.
