Can't get rid of widgets
-
Hi,
How do I get rid of widgets that show up on my blog but not on my dashboard?
My blog is http://clrforum.org/ The unwanted widgets are “SEARCH IT!” “RECENT ENTRIES” and “LINKS” on the right hand side in the Feature Widget Area.I tried entering in a blank widget, but it didn’t help.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All the widgets provided by WordPress.com are here > Appearance > Widgets
The documentation is here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/widgets-sidebars/Every theme has a default display of what appear to be actual widgets but aren’t. As soon as you select your own widget choices. Click to open each widget, configure where required, and click “save” and “close” in each widget that default display will disappear and be replaced by your choices.

@timethief : I have had this blog for a couple of years now. The unwanted widgets are showing up on the blog in a widget area where I have added widgets I wanted. I understand the default situation you speak of but it doesn’t apply to my blog because I already have added widgets to that area, and they have been up there for two years. Last week I added another widget and these three unwanted widgets popped up on the blog. Unfortunately, they don’t show up on the widget page so I can’t get rid of them.
Do you have any suggestions?

Search it! etc., are in the “primary” sidebar. Add a blank text widget to the “primary” sidebar at appearance > widgets.

See here http://intheoutbox.wordpress.com for the three sidebars identified on one of my test blogs.

@thesacredpath: Thanks for your suggestion but as I stated in my original post, I already tried that.
