I am new to wordpress and have been setting up a test site to get me used to it. I am using the WP-Andreas09 theme and onthe front page there are the two links for RSS. BUt when i click on them in Firefox or IE they dont work….!

I notice in the address bar it says feed:http://kyleict.wordpress.com/feed/ but if i amually remove the ‘feed:’ it works.

Am i doing somthing worng or what?

That’s because RSS is not normally read in browsers. The tag is for an RSS reader. :)

Please note that this was covered in the FAQ. Please read it.

    Good luck,

Kyleict I’m using cArp for an RSS newsfeed on my WP Blog. Here’s a link so you can see what it looks like. (It’s at the bottom of the page.) http://futures-tradingonline.com/futures/

I just got it setup today so there ain’t any post to my blog yet.

My next project will be to get some Google Adsense code on it; maybe in the sidebar or something.

    Hope this helps.

NOTE: the cArp has to be installed on your host server for it to work. I don’t think it will work on the Online WordPress.

I don’t think it was all that clear in the FAQ that you aren’t supposed to see anything but code if you click your own RSS sidebar widget, respectfully. Perhaps I scanned too fast, bbut I’ve been stumped myself after having looked for the information.

    Code what code?
I dragged and dropped my RSS widget into the sidebar. I opened it preparatory to configuring it. I saw a blank box under a label that said “Enter the RSS feed URL here”.
    I typed in `http://timethief.wordpress.com/feed’
I saw another line that read “Give the feed a title (optional)”
I typed in the name of my blog – stolen moments of island time
I saw a line the said”How many items would you like to display/”
    I typed in 10.
Then I closed the X at the top right hand side of the widget box and clicked “save change”.
I waited for the process to be completed and waited a few minutes longer because all sidebar material is cached and takes a few minutes to show. I viewed my blog. VOILA the titles of my last 10 posts were there following the little orange feed icon.

    Hope this helps.

tradeforex, ads aren’t allowed here due to security reason. But there has been talk on the forum that it might be one day in the future.

That’s because the FAQ was written before the widgets. If you would like to write something up, feel free.
