Can’t get WordPress Audio player to come up
-
I import an MP3 audio file from my upgraded media library. When the file comes into my post it is in the form of an underlined link. No little cool grey arrow and slider icon at all. I’m on a MacBook Pro, Tiger 10.4.9 and the audio file was created in Audacity with correct khz and exported as an MP3. Any ideas?

Also, did you write in the code, or just put the MP3 in the post? You have to do the proper shortcode, which is [audio URL] with your MP3’s URL replacing the “URL” in there.

Hi there, Thanks. I just went into another area and saw that I needed to do that.
Hey, chaps, I’m not an html’er at all. Maybe in your help page it could be clearer that the additional code needs to be modified and put before the http. It’s a little misleading as it says DO NOT copy and paste the above code… See below!
There are 3 ways to do this:
1. Upload an mp3 file somewhere on the internet and link to it like this [audio ] with the address inside.
Like this:
[audio http://wpcom.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/mattmullenweg-interview.mp3%5DNote: Do NOT copy and paste the above code into your visual editor, as there are a few HTML tags within the brackets that are needed so that we can actually display the code (as opposed to the audio player).
But I got it in the end. Thanks for such a speedy reply.

The note at the end just says write it yourself, don’t copy-paste directly from the FAQ page (and explains why).

Do you have any suggestions as to where we can upload an mp3 file on the internet. I am running into problems getting the music slider to work as well. I’ve tried adding the code [audio ] code that is required to the hyperlink, but it’s just not working. Any advise is appreciated.

First of all, can we have a link to your wordpress.COM blog? We don’t even know if you are in the right place. Also consider linking your user name to your blog as explained in the sticky at the top of the forum:
Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one. -
Thank your for the suggestion. I am very new at this and trying to get the hang of everything. I believe that I linked my user name to my blog. Also, here’s the link to my blog http://snapshotofmysoul.wordpress.com/

Great – thank you! Now, I tried to locate on your blog where you had an audio file linked but I couldn’t find one. Did you take it off?
Here is a good thread on audio. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embed-issuei-have-read-the-faqs-and-the-forum?replies=21 A lot of folks use filden as a place to host mp3s (if you don’t have the space upgrade). And as pointed out in that thread, make sure to break the link when you put in the url of the file.

I have found the audio player is not working even though it has been up until today. Anyone else got the same issue? my site is testpressing.org – very odd.

Actually its strange. It’s there on the other computer in the office but not mine.
Very odd.
