Can't import files from my previous domain

    Hello,
    I had my blog hosted with Siteground, but my plan got expired and I did not want to renew it.
    I’ve exported all files they mentioned because I want the site to keep running on wordpress.com
    I have now the SQL file with content and a folder with image files and php files, but I can’t seem to find where to upload it.
    I tried to upload on import tab but it says I need an WXR file which I do not have. I tried to login to wordpress.org to get this file but it seems that I do not have account on wordpress.org. I believe I was doing it all on wordpress.com ? Can that be?

    Can you please help me, I do not know how to proceed with this import…

    PS: My website used to be acordamaria.com.br but I can’t access now once it expired. When I access acordamaria.wordpress.com I can only see posts from May :/

    Hi there,

    The place to obtain the WXR file would have been the WP-Admin dashboard of your Siteground site. Now that the site no longer exists there is no way to get that export file.

    The only way to obtain the correct file would be to upload your SQL backup to a new self-hosted site, and then create an export file from there.

    How big is your SQL backup file?

    I cannot guarantee that it will work, but I can try to convert that file into an XML export for you. It is sometimes possible.

    If that email is no longer active, please make sure you update it in your account settings, as it’s the only way to reset your password should get locked out of your account.

    I’ve emailed the link to the other email address you gave here. I’ve also since been able to import the file on a test site without problems, so it should work for you as well.
