Can't import Tumblr blog because of custom domain

I’m trying to import a blog that I host on tumblr. I ran in to the following error:

As one or more of your Tumblr blogs has a Custom Domain mapped to it. If you would like to import one of these sites you will need to temporarily remove the custom domain mapping and clear the account information from the importer to import. Once the import is completed you can re-enable the custom domain for your site.

I removed the custom domain and tried to re-run the import but it still shows as having a custom domain.

I’ve also disconnected the wordpress app from the tumblr side to repull and it still shows the same result. I’ve also waited several days in case it was a DNS propagation issue. I even deleted one of my blogs to test if it was getting new data and the deleted site still shows in the wordpress import as an option to import. If helpful, the old custom domain is drewtunney.com and the tumblr url is https://drewtunney.tumblr.com/

    What else can I try?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

That’s odd, it seems that the domain is already mapped to your WordPress.com site and using our name servers so it shouldn’t cause issues on the Tumblr side.

Could you try to clear your browser’s cache? You can find here more information on how to clear the cache depending on your browser:

I’ve also reset the importer for you, so would you please try to run the import again from here?

If you’re still seeing the same error, try reaching out to https://www.tumblr.com/support to make sure the mapped domain was properly disconnected on their side.

It was the caching. Thank for your help!

    Strange request to cache :)
