can’t insert cursor after photo in post

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi All,

New to this, so forgive! I cannot seem to insert my cursor in a post AFTER the link of photos I’ve put in. I can only put the cursor in at the top or after text. Any tricks out there?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please provide a link to your blog when asking a question here, starting with:
    http://
Or link your blog to your name as in the sticky post on top of the forum:

    Switch to HTML.
go to the end of the image link.
    type a word.
    switch back to Visual,
and the end of the word will now “take” your cursor.

Thank you so much! my blog is http://theshepherdschild.wordpress.com/, and I’ll be sure to put it in from now on….Now I’ve got a new problem. At noon all was working fine, came back now to try again to add the photos, and I’m getting the message “10 error. An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”
Did I do something to create that? I don’t quite understand what the other forum entries say about it.

Well, I tried the Browser uploader and it’s working fine, the flash one that I’ve been using all along isn’t. And, your cursor trick worked perfectly and I put the photo in right where I wanted it, HOORAY! and thanks, I put hours into trying to figure it out!!!
…and by the way, am I using this forum place correctly? I don’t quite get how to move on from one topic to another..

    belleweatherfarm,

Sorry, but I don’t know the “10 error” message. We can hope that someone who knows can help.

Meanwhile, this reference is a bit old and the dashboard is a bit different, but uploading images works the same way:
    http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/16/how-do-i-upload-pictures/

Captions sometimes make images a bit wonky sometimes, too. That is why I suggested going to HTML to place your cursor. Perhaps add your pictures without captions??? Then go back and add captions after you have added all the post text you want.

I did have sort of a hiccup when I posted a couple of pictures today, though not the same as you describe. May be that it will clear up?

Also, don’t be shy about linking your name to your blog as I suggested in the link in the post above:
“2. How to make your name link to your blog:
Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.”

Oops! Sorry about that re-post! But thank you, 1tess, for all your help. I’m up and running again, and have hopes of having things together enough in the next few days to actually tell people about my blogs! It is just so amazing the way this whole thing works, and amazing how people jump in to help. Again, many thanks…..

    belleweatherfarm,

You are doing ok! Glad you are up and running!

Just please link your name to your blog, so people can find you easily:
dashboard > users > your profile > website > type in your url: http://theshepherdschild.wordpress.com/
that way people can automatically find your blog when you ask questions here or comment on your friends’ blogs!

To find what you asked about in these forums in the past, click on your own name on top of the forum. Or the word member under your name in a post.

To move from one topic to another, remember to go back to the top of the forums page, then click on the word “forum” after you finish reading a thread of comments.
