Can't insert Flickr image without it being uploaded on my media storage?
-
I somehow managed to make it look centered? But I still would like to know if I can center it, put it on the right or left for future reference.

I’ve had a look at the post you linked. The image you embedded takes up the full width of the content area. As such, there’s really no need to align it, and the option isn’t available.
If you insert a smaller image, it should be possible to click on it, and then click on one of the alignment buttons:
However, if this still doesn’t work, please link me to a post containing a smaller image that needs to be aligned. I’ll be happy to help!

chrisrudzki,
I’m using Flickr for my photos.
1. Copy the URL to a specific image. For example: http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/img_0081.png
I’m now able to paste the Flickr image url into my wordpress.
In the previous editor, we were able to link the image to the Flickr photo webpage.
Now, it leads to just the photo when clicked.
I hope that we are able to get this function again instead of using html to insert media.
Thanks.

If you insert the image, can you click on it, and then use the “link” button to link it to whatever you want?

@chrisrudski (and others), I can share Flickr and Google photos with a few steps and a few “gotchas”. All this is done in the WP admin editor. The Flickr image needs to be set to public. Grab the HTML share.
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/poltracknet/23344015225/in/dateposted-public/" title="Thanksgiving"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5806/23344015225_00eaac3607_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="Thanksgiving"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>In the WP editor I usually change the URL setting to point to to the image so the user can see the image in full size by clicking it (or in a new window). If you choose the custom link you can include the shareable link to google images, so when the user clicks on the image it will open the Google Photo Page. For example:
https://goo.gl/photos/9kZ3ScAnq6wSAkhCA
Another way of sharing Google Photos is to post them with a public setting which allows the post to be embedded in wordpress which is pretty slick and does work with the new editor.
My only feedback is keep the advanced editor, it has much more functionality

Thanks for sharing, John! I’m sure that’ll help a lot of folks.
Can you see if the Flickr shortcode is working for you?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/flickr-photos/When clicked, the embedded image should take you to the relevant Flickr gallery.

@chrisrudzki the short link does work, but there is no option to open the flickr photo in new browser window. Also I prefer having the caption as part of the html. But the embedded version is easier.

poltraxxThe old Add Media was much more better then the recent change.
Thanks for the heads up.
