Can’t Insert Pictures in a Blog Post

I am using the tools within the post interface to insert pictures into posts and all is going well except for in ONLY SOME of my posts, when I am editing them, the icons to insert pictures, etc. are non-functional.
If I create a new post, however, they work…
Is there any reason for this anyone is aware of?
The cursor / mouse recognizes them as an active link but when I click, nothing happens. No window opens, etc…

the picture has to be filed under jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, doc, ppt, odt, pptx, or docx

We are trying to load a picture into our page. I can get the image into the Gallery. I try to add it to the Post area, but it doesn’t seem to stick. I read through the help page, but it doesn’t work as described. Any other ideas we could try?
