Can't insert slide show
-
I’ve always used slide shows in my posts, but I’ve just added a new post, and can’t insert a new slideshow. The ‘insert slideshow’ and ‘insert gallery’ buttons no longer appear. The gallery images that show appear to be the latest from the entire blog gallery, not just the images from this post. Can anyone help? I’ve tried to manually insert the tag [slideshow] but that doesn’t work either.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The ‘insert slideshow’ and ‘insert gallery’ buttons no longer appear.
First of all, if you’ve uploaded the images to the post or page where you want them to appear, you can simply add [slideshow] <– just like that to your post. The slideshow should appear.
As far as the buttons not appearing in the Gallery tab of the image uploader, try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser cache and cookies, shutting down your browser and then reopening it.
If that doesn’t work, come back and tell us what browser and browser version you’re using.

Thanks for trying Jennifer, and so quickly.
So, I gather that this is part of the recent changes to the user interface and functionality. It really needs some more explanation, and I think not just for me.
I have followed your instructions above, (in Firefox), and have also tried Chrome and Safari. The tag [slideshow] doesn’t produce any result.
Previously, there was a gallery associated with each post, not just the whole blog. That no longer seems to be the case, which, I guess, is why the slideshow tag doesn’t work. How do I specify which images should appear in a slideshow or gallery now?
Yours,

As far as I am aware there’s no fundamental change as to how you upload and insert a slideshow or gallery. You still have to upload the images to the post or page you want them to appear in and then insert them with either the Gallery or Slideshow shortcode, which is usually produced by clicking on the Insert Gallery or Insert Slideshow button in the Image Uploader.
If you have uploaded your images to the post or page (and not directly to the media library), close the image uploader and then simply write [slideshow] in your post. After saving your draft you should see the slideshow in the preview of your post/page.
If this still isn’t working for you, please make sure you have logged out of WordPress.com, cleared your browser cache and cookies, shut down and then reopen your browser and try the above again.

1. Hit the “Save all Changes” button so that the Gallery Tab appears in the Image Uploader.
2. Click over to the Gallery Tab and scroll down if necessary until you see the insert buttons.Still no joy? Contact Support at the link I gave you above.

I’m having the exact same problem. The gallery tab from the ‘add media’ dialogue box has disappeared from all but one of my posts, and manually entering [slideshow] does nothing.
I have just purged my browser cache, cookies, etc; logged out, closed the browser – all the usual tricks. Nothing. I am using Google Chrome, although it doesn’t appear to be working for Internet Explorer either.

“manually entering [slideshow] does nothing”
Are you entering it in the HTML editor of the post? Have you uploaded images from your computer via the Add Media button of that post?
-
Panos, as long as the images have been uploaded to the post where they are to appear, there’s no difference if the shortcode is entered in the visual editor or the html editor, as long as the shortcode is spelled correctly and is enclosed in brackets, like this:
[slideshow]
[gallery]

Heah guys, that did the trick. I uploaded a new photo for a post direct as opposed to the media gallery, and the gallery tab appeared. Cheers.
