Can’t install a theme via upload

Hi, I am unable to upload my old theme to WordPress, it says I need to pay for a subscription. I previously had a WordPress account and have just re-gained access to it after 3 or 4 years. I never previously paid a fee to install the theme before, just wondering why this is the case?

I looked at some of your previous topics, and you had moved your site off WordPress.com in the past. When it was not on WordPress.com, you used WordPress.org. Here’s an explanation of the differences. https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
The sites you had with other hosts might have expired by now, and it looks like you’ve pointed the same domain to WordPress.com again. For WordPress.com, you’ll want a Business plan to upload themes. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

To upload 3rd party themes on WordPress.com does require an upgrade, yes. For free sites this is not possible but can be unlocked with our WordPress.com Business Plan

Possibly with another hosting provider? Please note that we are not associated with a WordPress site you may have had with GoDaddy, Bluehost, Network Solutions, etc. They use a different version of the platform (more advanced but totally DIY) that does allow you to upload themes.
