Cant install plugins within the admin area

    Hello, i just downloaded WP 2.8. Installing Plugins is no problem, when manually downloaded and uploaded to my webspace. but if i am trying to search for a plugin or selecting the new or most rated tabs (in admin area) there are no entries. When i am trying to search for a plugin i am getting an error:


    an unexpected HTTP error occured during API request.

    Later I tried to install the WordPress.com Stats Plugin. The manual installation works fine. After activation the plugin asked for the API Key. But there also occured an error:


    Error from last API Key attempt:
    Your blog was unable to connect to WordPress.com. Please ask your host for help. (transport error - could not open socket: 110 Connection timed out)

    At the dashbord the feed from the wordpress developer block is integrated, but it says:

    RSS-error: WP HTTP Error: 16:
