Can't invite new user

    I’m trying to invite user clairehamshire to my blog, I get a message saying that she has blocked invite emails – she has logged into her account checked that emails are NOT blocked. She has also tried to get her subscription details but gets a message saying her email is invalid. Can a wordpress staff member have a look please?

    I want to invite her to blogs: apptblog, apptupdate

    Sorry you’re having trouble. I am getting the same message when I attempt to invite clairehamshire to your site.

    Please have her follow these steps, to confirm her subscription details are setup to receive invitations:

    1. Make sure clairehamshire is NOT logged into her WordPress.com user account.
    2. Click https://subscribe.wordpress.com/ and enter the email address she uses to log into WordPress.com, and click on “Request details.”
    3. She will receive an email titled “[Subscribe] Your Subscription Details” containing a link looking like this: https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?key=a111b222&email=wp%wp.com. Don’t click that link — just copy it.
    4. Paste the link in your browser’s address bar and add &unsub_invites&option=cancel at the end.
    5. She should end up with a long URL in her browser’s address bar that looks like https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?key=a111b222&email=wp%wp.com&unsub_invites&option=cancel — click enter to load it.
    6. A confirmation message will appear: “You will now receive invite emails again at (email visible only to moderators and staff). To stop receiving them, click here.”

    Once this is done, she will be able to receive invite emails again.

    Please let me know how this works. Once she can receive those invitation emails, you can launch them from your sites again. Best of luck!

    Hi thatrobyn, thanks for your message. She has tried what you suggest, but unsuccessfully, this is what she said:

    “So I got the email with the link below and then added the ending as directed to get:

    https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?key=a941a3a2a481542f49e70c00f157b32c&email=c.hamshire%40mmu.ac.uk&unsub_invites&option=cancel

    and after I pressed enter it just took me to this:

    Status

    can you investigate further for us?

    Hello! Claire’s email address doesn’t look quite right in the link you sent me below. I logged into her account and sent Subscriptions Details to her WordPress.com account email. Could you please let me know when she gets that, and if it helps?

    One other thing will help is if Claire can follow another blog. It will assist me to see if she receives notification emails of new posts. I picked a blog at random for her to follow: http://californiapixie.com/.

    I will follow it as well, so I am aware when Claire should see a post in her email box.

    Have her follow the blog by clicking Follow California Pixie in the right hand sidebar.

    One other thought, could you please send me an invitation to join your blog as a user? I want to make sure that side of the process works well. If it’s successful, I’ll let you know and you can delete me asap. Enter my user name “thatrobyn” into the invitation box. Thanks!

    Oh, she has confirmed that the ‘block emails’ box is not checked, but I still can’t invite her!

    I have manually added Claire to the two blogs. For security reasons, I’ve added her as a Contributor. You can log into your Dashboard and make her a site Administrator, if you’d like.
