Can’t launch on the free plan

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I have no free option to launch my site. Also didn’t have any before buying a domain name. So I’m not sure what I did that prevents it. Even the personal plan is not available. Can you tell me what tool I used that secretly bans me from free or personal?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello, @poupa29! I’ll be happy to assist you with this.

If I understand correctly, you’re having some trouble launching your site, right? If that’s the case, could you please double-check that you’re following these steps correctly:

    https://wordpress.com/support/privacy-settings/launch-your-website/

I just took a quick look at your account and noticed you recently purchased a new domain. I also saw that you don’t currently have an active paid plan, since your Personal Plan expired a couple of years ago.

If you’d like to upgrade your site to a paid plan, feel free to follow this guide:

    https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/upgrade-your-plan/

Please try these steps, and if you encounter any issues with upgrading or launching your site, feel free to share more details or screenshots of any error messages. We’re here to help and will be happy to take a closer look.

    Hi,

yes, I followed the steps to launch my site (clicking on “Visibility->Launch” and I found also lots of other forum posts explaining where to find the free plan during launch. But the only plans that are available to me are Premium and Business. I would like to launch the site with the free plan to test it online. Before I bought the domain, the free plan was also not available, so it must be something else blocking me away.

Can you manually set the visibility to public? And tell me what I did that blocks me on premium plans?

Thanks for letting us know about this!

If I understand correctly, when you were launching your site, axelvonarnimart.wordpress.com, you couldn’t find the option to keep your site under the free plan, right? Here’s a screenshot for reference:

If you’re seeing something different on your end, could you please share a screenshot with me so I can take a closer look and help you further? You can take a screenshot by following this guide:

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

    Hi,

This is all I have when I try to launch (I have a dark Windows Theme, sorry).

Note that you should be able to launch axelvonarnimart.wordpress.com (as long as you haven’t customised the design) but you can’t use a custom domain without a paid plan. You could have registered a custom domain free for the first year if you had gone for a Personal plan from the word go.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, @poupa29!

As @themagicrobot mentioned, if you are using Premium Styles on your site and want to launch it, you will need to upgrade to the Premium Plan or higher. This will also allow you to set your custom domain as the primary address.

However, if you’re not ready to upgrade and want to launch your site using the free plan, you can do so by removing the Premium Styles. You can follow this guide to remove them:

    https://wordpress.com/support/using-styles/#remove-premium-styles

Please let me know if you have any questions or need further help.
