Can't "like", can't always comment

    When I read a blog and want to, “like”, it probably three-quarters of the time it doesn’t work.

    I click like, another tab opens then disappears. This is on Safari on Mac.

    Another issue-

    Sometimes I go to comment and a blog and I’ll click the WP icon because even though I am logged in, WordPress doesn’t seem to realise I am logged in. Then it will come up as, “connecting to wordpress.com”, and sometimes in seconds I am connected and can comment, other times it just sits there as, “connecting”, for infinity.

    I used to use WordPress on Chrome and found it even more glitchy. When the bell icon would go orange, I would click on it to see what the notification was and it would just be loading and loading forever without ever loading.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hi there,

    Open Safari Preferences, and go to Privacy. Untick the box next to “Prevent cross-site tracking”.

    That setting, which is enabled by default in Safari, prevents sites from tracking you across the web. From a security and privacy point of view that’s a good thing, except Apple created this as bit of a blunt tool, and it just blocks ANY tracking it detects, including legitimate tracking required by a service to work correctly. Like the tracking WordPress.com does to detect whether you’re logged into your account when you visit different sites on our platform.

    Safari doesn’t offer any option to add exceptions to allow specific sites to track you, so if you want features like Likes and commenting to work correctly, the only option at this point is to disable that feature entirely.

    Regarding the notifications issue on Chrome, have you tried clearing the browser cache? If you’re using any anti-tracking or ad-blocker plugins in Chrome, also try disabling those and see if that helps – browser add-ons like that work by blocking JavaScript code loading on a website which is very effective at blocking ad and malware code from loading, but again they’re blunt tools also blocking necessary JavaScript like the code used by the notifications drop-down and the rest of the entire WordPress.com interface.
