Can't like, can't follow.
-
I have lost the ability to ‘follow’ a new site, and also to enter a blog and ‘like’ an article there. I can only like from my Reader. Anyone know what’s happening?
I don’t see a ‘like’ button or a ‘follow’ button. I also can’t ‘un-follow’ any sites from in the post as I used to.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anybody out there have any ideas? It’s very tedious as it is.
To restate: If I log onto a blog – say yours – I can see your articles, but I can’t ‘see a like or a follow/unfollow button.
Only what appears in my reader (which is a pre-existing ‘follow’ can I indicate a ‘like’ for, and these sites I cannot ‘unfollow’.

And I can’t reblog or do any of the things that WordPress is supposed to allow and encourage.

I think you are describing either a browser related issue or a connectivity issue.
Make sure you are running an up to date browser version found at https://browsehappy.com Try clearing your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and see the tips here https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

If you are not successful please provide this specific info:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/Then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. Timethief, thank you. I’ve already emptied cache, but no difference. I’ll work through the other options and then come back to here.
Just to illustrate, I visited your blog and viewed your entry ‘four ways to refresh your blog’. I could see it, navigate it, leave a comment, but I could not ‘like’ and could not ‘follow’. These options were not present/available to me on your blog site.
I used to have these features, but <poof> no more.
I’ll update when I get a chance to work through.
Thank you.

Hi Frank,
but I could not ‘like’ and could not ‘follow’.
Do the like and follow options appear but are unresponsive, or do they not appear at all?
It would be really useful if you could send us some screenshots of what is happening. The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
They can be sent to us using a service like Cloudup:
Please also tell me the following:
- Which browser are you using? This site will give you the exact version number.
- Does the problem occur on every browser?
Once I know more I’ll have a look at what is happening. Thanks!

Hi Gemma.
They didn’t appear at all.I’ll try to do a screenshot and paste it, per instructions.
In my reader, I can ‘like’. On a web page, I get no button that I can see.

Hi again, Gemma,
I’ve taken a pic of the end of one of your own blog posts as I see it. No Like Button or follow Button.
The pic is here: https://cloudup.com/cJenut2pUMT
Other info is:
Web Browser Chrome 56.0.2924.87

Hi Frank,
I’ve taken a pic of the end of one of your own blog posts as I see it. No Like Button or follow Button.
I have two sites, the one you have made a screenshot from is a self hosted WordPress.org site. The differences are explained here:
WordPress.com sites have different follow options (my self hosted WordPress.org site doesn’t have a Follow button). If you visit my WordPress.com site, do you see a Follow button at the button at the bottom right? I’ve uploaded a screenshot of what should be there.

It sounds like you are seeing it in other browsers but not Chrome. Is the problem with one site in particular?
In my reader, I can ‘like’. On a web page, I get no button that I can see.
Yes, in the Reader you can like a post or a follow a site. When viewing a WordPress.com site through the browser (as a visitor), there is a Follow button at the bottom right of the browser. You will only be able to like a post if the site owner has enabled that option in their sharing settings.
Thanks!
