Can’t link site via Jetpack
-
Hi
I’m trying to add one of my old sites (which Im sure used to be linked via Jetpack but isn’t anymore), and when I click to ‘Set up Jetpack’ I get the following error:
{‘code’:’insert_blog’,’message’:’Unable to insert blog. Please try again or contact support.’,’data’:400}
Any idea what might be the cause?
Self-declared URL: https://mou.me.uk
Jetpack: Unknown
WP.com: UnknownThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.
As it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!

@aleone89 Thanks for the response, but I don’t understand. The error from Jetpack says “Please try again or contact support”. When I search for the error on the Jetpack site, it shows me this:

But when you visit the support page, it implies you can’t contact support unless you’re a paid customer, and to use the forums instead.
So I’m guessing this isn’t the forum I need to ask on, do you have any idea would need to speak to to get this fixed? Am happy with my current self hosting, £20/month forever to get a bug fixed seems a little overkill

Hi there,
Apologies for the confusion. Have you tried completely deactivating and uninstalling Jetpack and then reinstalling/reconnecting?:
https://jetpack.com/support/disconnect-jetpack-sites/https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/
This is a common error, and a new install normally fixes this. But, the Jetpack team would be better positioned to assist you if a fresh install of the plugin still yields this error. You can reach out to them here:https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/
Hope this helps. Thank you! -
@staff-doublebassd Sadly this didn’t work, so I’ve dropped a message on the jetpack support forum, hopefully someone there picks it up.
Thanks for your help!
