Can't locate wp-config.php

Hi! I’m a total website newbie, and am terrible with pretty much anything related to them. I was trying to update wordpress today, so I decided to back up my site (for the first time). I had never even heard of phpMyAdmin, but it seemed to be the easiest way to do it according to the internet. I changed my password (since it was my first time logging in) from the random letters and numbers to something I could remember, and saved the backup. When I went back to the site, I got the ‘error establishing a database connection’ message, which after some googling appears to be because the password in my wp-config.php file no longer matches my real password. The issue is though, that this is the first I’ve heard of a wp-config file, and I can’t find it. I searched my whole computer, and all I can find is the wp-config-sample.php, and I dont remember creating a wp-config file when creating my website. This seems like common knowledge but I’m at a loss, am I looking in the wrong place, or did I miss a crucial step while making the website in the first place? Thanks.

The site is cheesyfantasycomic.com, in case that helps at all (not sure why it would but just in case)

    Hi splarflord,

Sounds like you have a WordPress.org installation. WordPress comes in two versions, WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you want to know more about the differences between these two version, this link is quite useful:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you ask this same question in a WordPress.org forum, you´re more likely to get better help with this, since this is a WordPress.com forum. Click the link below to get there:

Hope this helps. Have a good one =)

Wow no kidding, I really am a newbie, I didn’t even know there was a difference! I’ll move it over there, thanks!
