Can’t log in as admin
-
I created a site two days ago (covidchat.wordpress.com). It was not yet published, set to private. When I try to log into it as the admin (by adding ‘/admin’ to the end, I get a message saying that ‘covidcarrie’ (which is the wordpress username I used when creating it) is not approved for access and that I have to ask the admin to add me. But I am the admin! And I know the page exists because I see a screen saying coming soon. Any ideas?

Hi there!
That site was actually created from a different account than the one you’re using to post here. Please log out and log into the correct account. You’ll then be able to manage your site directly from WordPress.com, no need to go to
/wp-admin, that’s the old dashbard view. -
Thank you freatomica!
I tried my other emails and found the one I must have been logged into when I created the site. Not the one I meant to use, but oh well.
All set now! -
Glad you’ve got it! You can add backup recovery methods and what not if you’d like.
Note too, if you’re using gmail, you might have some luck with an alias. Instead of using this:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)Use this:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)You can make that +1, +whatever, +doesnotmatter … whatever letters or numbers make the most sense to you. Gmail will ignore the plus sign and anything after it. But we won’t, so it’s in effect a second email account that delivers to the same address. That way you can effecitvely use the same email for both accounts, or at least find a good way to swap email addresses on the two accounts.
Want to give that a try?
