Can’t log in – ‘couldn’t find your account’?

  • Unknown's avatar

I start at the wp-login.php in page and then I click on the blue ‘log in with wordpress.com’ button.

This takes me to a page that says ‘jetpack’ at the top which recognizes my gmail account, and says ‘log in with Halifax Eye Institute’.

So I click the green ‘log in’ button, then it takes me to an error message which says ‘We couldn’t find your account. If you already have an account, make sure you have connected to WordPress.com.’ I don’t understand why because this used to work, and I can’t get a hold of the web site designer to ask her about it.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

What’s your site’s address so I can have a look?

  • Got it, thank you. So, your halifaxeyeinstitute is not the account that connected this site to Jetpack. In fact on our end, it’s not connected at all.

If you’d like, you can log in at wp-login.php with your username and password, as usual, then connect Jetpack. Jetpack support could also work on getting the connection ownership moved if needed.

If your only intention is to log into wp-admin, you can just use your normal login and password there, rather than using the “Login with WordPress.com” button, since that will use the Jetpack connection.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you need further clarification.
