Cant log in to adminpanel. Someone has changed pw(?)

    I can’t login to my website Egastronomi.se.

    Usually I’m always autologged in to the admin panel. Today when I opened the browser and went to the site, I saw the Admin panel bar at the top as normal, but as soon as I clicked on it I got logged out. And when I tried to log in there’s a message saying: “You’ve tried to log in too many times, try again in 10 hours.” (I havn’t tried to log in in the last couple of days).

    And when I try to change the password it says “There’s no account with this email”.

    Has someone taken over the site? And if so, what can be done?

    This is an old WordPress account that has nothing to do with the real one.

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

    The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here hasn’t been active in four years, and the last time you published anything on https://hkkslottsskolan.wordpress.com/ was on 18 August 2016.

    The only other site in your account hasn’t been updated since October 2016.

    That site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We don’t have any access to or control over that site.

    Please contact your hosting provider directly for help, or else ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:

    Just to be clear: y
    – You can’t see if anything shady has been going on?
    – Are you familiar with the message when trying to log in to the admin panel which says “Too many failed attempts to log in?” when I in fact havnt tried to log in at all… Any idea what could be going on?

    No. Your site is not hosted on our servers, and we have no access to any part of your dashboard or hosting account to see what’s going on.

    I can tell you the WordPress software doesn’t have this type of security feature built in, so if you’re seeing that on your site, it’s either a security feature added by your hosting provider, or one you added yourself using a security plugin.

    But that’s as much as I’m able to tell you :)
