Can't log in with latest wordpress installation

Hi there.
Since I updated to the latest wordpress installation I have been unable to login to my site. There is a sign in option on the theme and that brings up a blank page.When I try the wp-admin option I get a 404 error. I had previously installed a plugin that would redirect the wp-admin to the theme login.
I have tried disabling all plugins via ftp by renaming the file plugins.deactivate.The problem is still persisting. When I try wp-admin it either tried to redirect to the theme login page or gives a 404 error.
I thought, having disabled the plugin that redirects it would solve the problem, but it hasn’t.Another issue is that in my plugins folder I can only see 3 plugins, and not the 15 or so that should be there. As a result of this, I think that most plugins are still running.
Could anyone advise as to what the best course of action might be? I’m running the geoplaces theme.

That is not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and you are posting to the wrong support forum.WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names.
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
