Okay, I didn’t know there was a difference between .org and .com when it comes to wordpress. Honestly, I don’t even know which one I registered with. But in my address bar right now it’s .com .

I’ve been working on my blog for days now. I am pretty sure I have the wordpress software installed… however, when I try to log in under the whole http://www.plumpvaciouspiggles.com/wp-admin/ I can’t log in as username admin and can only log in as my plumpvaciouspiggles username. So when I log in the only way I can I go to apperances and there’s NO option for Plug-in’s. Which If I am on the software version and under the users tab it says I am an Admin then what’s going on?

I am not the most computer savvy person, I’ll admit if you couldn’t tell already. lol. However, I NEED this to work! I already paid for my dominion name and paid for the customizable theme upgrade AND the extra gigabyte storage… I can’t turn back now! I have too much invested in it already!

All I want is a social media plug in like for twitter, facebook, etsy… Gurrrrr! Please help!

I emailed ‘support,’ not yesterday but the day before and NO response what so ever… I know this is kind of a bad time being before the holidays but I just want everything up and going perfectly before the holidays are all over…

Please Please Please someone help me!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This blog is being free hosted by WordPress.com http://plumpvaciouspiggles.com/
You are being told to log-in under the correct username account plumpvaciouspiggles ie. the username account that registered the blog so do that please.

So when I log in the only way I can I go to apperances and there’s NO option for Plug-in’s.

There is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers can’t install plugins. Only those with wordpress.org installs can use plugins http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

So since I am a .com and not a .org then I don’t have the options of plug in’s, right?

    twitter, facebook

    See here > Sharing > http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/
    Facebook integration > http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/
    Twitter integration > http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/

    etsy

The etsy mini widget is JavaScript which we cannot use for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascript There is no upgrade that will allow you to post JavaScript, iframes, forms or other restricted codes. To use that widget you would have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install.

What many of us have done is simply take a screenshot of our Etsy shop or favorites and added it to our sidebars in a text widget. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-and-where-to-post-the-etsy-mini-code?replies=4#post-937853

Okay, gotcha. I guess I got confused because I thought I was considered a installer because I did install wordpress, but maybe there was something wrong with my install.

There are millions of us WordPress.com bloggers and very few Staff. When we create a support ticket by contacting Staff or by flagging a thread for their assistance here in the forums it’s important to understand they have a backlog. They deal with the support tickets and threads with the earliest dates first. So if we contact them more than once on the same issue or bump threads the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help.

Thank You so much timetheif!!!! *Hugs* You are THE BEST! This is all making sense to me now! And you know what?? I don’t think I need to be involved with the software because quite frainkly I don’t know enough to know what to be doing with a web host and ect. So yeah! I am going to pick apart all this info you gave me and re-read it 20 million times, lol till it gets in my brain. :-) I am not a .org, I am a .com, and I have no business in dealing with plug ins in a .org because it’s just too much stuff going into haveing a .org! lol :-)

You’re welcome. I recommend this tutorial which is also linked to one the bottom of your Admin page http://learn.wordpress.com

I’ll check that link out as well. :-) Also, if by chance I decide to go elsewhere how do I get a refund and how do I take my dominion name with me? I just purchased the custom theme package and extra gigabytes last night. I purchased my web domain, I think Monday.

I just have a lot to think about and to try and weigh my options since there’s certain things I was wanting to do and because my lack of experience with computer stuff maybe wordpress wouldn’t be great for a person like me… I donno.

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all of our upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds
    see also http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundle

If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

I thought I researched enough about this site.. I was contemplating for months where to go and I thought wordpress would be perfect since it was ranked high and whatnot, and I do think it’s a good site… but shame on my misunderstanding and perhaps not researching more extensively into it all. I just don’t know… gah.

There are pages of threads with other bloggers who are waiting for help. I cannot make your decision for you and I have provided everything I think is relevant. I’m wishing you well and moving on to help others.

It says that you can’t transfer a dominion name until after 60 days… am I reading that correct?

Yes. Staff don’t post things that aren’t true. It’s an ICANN rule and there is no way around it.

That’s being said if your read carefully you will see that you do not need to transfer the domain to another registrar. You can do what I posted ie. update the nameservers.

Great people like you on the fourms and you know, with a little pratice I will get the hang of this :D It will take time but I really like wordpress, I was just overwhelmed with everything. Though taking it all in and with your help I think this is where I belong. Much love timethief! I value all the good work you are doing around here on the fourms and thank you so much for being so informational. You are priceless! :-)
