Hi there,
It looks like you are on the self hosted version, which is WordPress.org. This forum is for questions related to WordPress.com
Difference between the two?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Please post your question in the .org support forum.

Best of luck!

Thank you Mariah,
One problem though, wordpress.org tells me none of my log ins are valid??
So the one I used to log in here doesn’t exist over there so I can’t even log in to leave a help me question…
Sorry for being a little dumb but it doesn’t make sense to me that I can log into wordpress.com with an account (which isn’t linked to my dashboard) but be told them I am part of wordpress.org but I am not valid with that log in?
I have been using wordpress.com for over a month now with no issues…
Just very confused…

It’s okay, I understand how it can cause confusion and my choice of wording may have even caused it.
You have a self hosted installation and WordPress.org support should be able to assist you with problems you experience.
WordPress.com is not self hosted.
Your WordPress.com log in is not in any way connected to WordPress.org. It is completely separate. You would have to create a log in on WordPress.org to seek assistance with problems you experience on a self hosted site.
Hopefully that helps explain it better.

Hi Mariah,
Thanks for the clarification, makes sense if it’s self hosted. What I don’t understand is how I can create a log in with wordpress.com and have it connected to my website and be able to edit, post blogs etc and then suddenly be locked out and be told that my email and log in are both invalid and I have no way of accessing them or changing a password to get in…
I have created a wordpress.org account but I cannot work out how to connect a website even post a forum on there.. I know that this is probably out of your ability to assist me with since they are different…. this whole process is so frustrating and makes no sense to me.
So if I have a self hosted website (with wordpress.org?) how have I been using wordpress.com?
This would be easier if there was a direct contact number I can explain or send screen shots of error messages to..

Looking through your comments it looks like your username is Caitlinjayne. Are you using that name to sign in with? Just asking because I see Caitlinjayne91 is what you’re using here in this forum. Maybe try without using the 91.
If you have jetpack linked maybe that is what allows you to makes small changes through .com side. That part I am not familiar with.
In reference to you having WordPress.org, that is where I confused you. I meant that you have a self hosted version, which the software may or may not have been downloaded from WordPress.org.
Since you’re self hosted, WordPress.org forum is where you should be able to ask questions related to a self hosted site.

Yeah that’s where I am confused with because here I use the 91 and I have tried numerous times without it and then it tells me that an email isn’t linked or valid for that username.. This is what my issue is, and I can’t get access it to reset the password or try and retrieve the account as it tells me my website is not valid… (maybe this reason is because it is from .org, can it be .org if the wesbite in question says .com??)
Jetpack was linked to my account (now I am confused which one.. I don’t know how I can have two really!)
I really appreciate your help with everything I clearly am not very computer savvy, I have posted a forum on .org to see if they can help as well.
Thanks again!

You’re most welcome. I wish I knew more so I could better assist you. I’m going to add the modlook tag so that someone on staff can take a look. It’s highly possible I’m just missing a connect.

Hi there,
You can access your site by logging in here, because you have the Jetpack plugin installed on that site and connected to your WordPress.com account. One of the things Jetpack does is to enable you to manage a self-hosted site by logging into WordPress.com.
But you also still have a completely separate login for the WP-Admin dashboard which is not connected to our system at all. That login was set up with your hosting provider when you first set up your site. For help in resetting that you’ll most likely need to contact your web host for help. You can also try the password reset instructions for self-hosted sites here:
