Can't log out properly

My two sites. sportscarcarracingnews.com and planetporsche.org won’t log out properly today. When I try to and then go to these sites, it still shows My site, reader at the top. I attempt to log out again again, it seems that it has. But when I go to either site again it’s still showing My site and reader.
I’m using a Chomebook.

sportscarracingnews.com is owned by the account you are contacting us from (jocaracing) and planetporsche.org is owned by another — so it sounds like you may not be fully logged out, or logged in to the other account.
After logging out of WordPress.com from the My Profile page, could you try clearing your browser cache and WordPress.com cookies to see if that helps?
Hopefully that will do the trick but come back to me if it doesn’t.

It worked perfectly. That was until I signed back into WordPress and I was back to square one as the problem came back.

It is true that planetporsche.org. is a separate account. But it doesn’t matter which one I log into, the same thing happens.

Thanks for trying that. Does the issue occur in multiple browsers or just the one you are currently using? If it’s just the one, which browser are you using and on which operating system (see supportdetails.com)?

Hi there,
Do you have any extensions installed? Security and ad-blocking extensions are known to cause some issues.

Earlier when I was in the site, I requested help there. They tried to replicate the issue and couldn’t. I think, they think it’s a browser issue. Have cleared cache and cookies. But makes no difference.

Have you tried to reinstall a fresh version of the Chrome browser and restart your device? What version number are you currently using?

I use a Chromebook and it’s fully up to date. Version 74.0.3729.159. It was updated to this last week. My device has been on and off several times today.
Until a couple of days ago. When I was in the stats page, and tapped WP Admin to do a new post. A new tab would open showing the dashboard. I would do a post and tap sign out. It would close showing the front page of the site. I would close that and it would then leave the original page to log out from. I would and it would show the log out page. Two or Three days ago it changed. When tapping WP Admin from the stats page, it would change to that in the tab opened. So only one tab opened. When I had done a post. It would log out showing the front page of the site.

Just to clarify, are you seeing those while still logged out?
Try going to
https://wordpress.com/me/accountThen visit the site without logging in.
If you see My Site and Reader (while still logged out), please go back to
https://wordpress.com/me/accountand then take a screenshot. Go to https://wordpress.com/media and upload it.

I’m using Chrome on a Chomebook
I’ve used your link to the account page. I’ve then visited the site, which of course shows me logged in. 3 Screenshots were loaded in my media earlier today.Hope this helps.

@ jocaracing I’m sorry, I forgot one step! Go to https://wordpress.com/me/account
And click *log out* there. That was the step I missed. If you immediately refresh that page are you still logged in?

Hm, I definitely can’t reproduce this error on my end, and looking through your support history, it looks like my colleagues can’t either.
I agree your screenshots do appear to show you experiencing this problem though.
Do you have trouble logging out of other sites, like Facebook, Twitter, etc?
If you clear cookies, are you still logged in, or do you mean the issue comes back as soon as you log in again?
Also, have you tried with all browser extensions disabled? https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769?hl=en

I’ve used other sites today like Twitter and Hotmail with no issue at all.
I’ve cleared cookies for as far back as possible, and as soon as I go back in the problem returns.As for Extensions I just have Feeder RSS feeeder. That has need on the Chromebook for a long time

So, just let me double-check on this one bit.
You clear _all_ cookies, every single last one, and when you come back to WordPress.com, you’re still logged in?
If so, I recommend contacting Google’s support about this. The logged in data is stored in a cookie, nothing else, so if all cookies are cleared, then you should absolutely not be logged in. If that is the case, it sounds like the browser is not handling cookies properly.

I just tried with the RSS feeder turned off, made no difference.
It does sound like a browser issue now.
