Can’t Login

  I have a site truelemontek.com and I used a reset plugin to reset the site and now I can’t login. The email I was using to try to login was (email visible only to moderators and staff) and it wasn’t working. I have gotten emails from wordpress to this email and now I can’t even get a reset password email sent to my email. Please help me access my wordpress dashboard.

  Hi there!

  To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

  1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
  2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
  3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

  Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

  That reset plugin probably also reset your user account information, essentially removing you from the site. Additionally, since WordPress.com is not your hosting provider, any attempts to reset your password here would have zero effect on your website.

  You should reach out to your host Hostinger for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you find and fix this problem. Hopefully, they have a recent backup from before you used that plugin to restore your account access. If nothing else, they should be able to add your user login to the site’s database so you can log into your site again.

  To avoid this in the future, you should have a backup solution for your site so you can undo things if they should ever go wrong – like unexpected behavior from a plugin like you experienced, a bad plugin/theme update that takes down your site, or if your site is attacked by hackers. Since you’re using the Jetpack plugin, you can add their Backup service to your account and you can be protected from situations like these in the future.
