Can't login and other odd site behaviour

I have a very small business website that has been happily working correctly for around three years. Yesterday, for no apparent reason, I can no longer login to the admin but the site displays correctly.

When I try to login, I get no errors but the login just appears to loop back and ask for my login details again. I have also noticed that the woo commerce basket always remains empty once items are added.

Needless to say, all sales have stopped and I cannot get in to change anything.

After spending many hours trying to get in (and now giving up), is their anywhere I can hire someone to fix this for me? I now simply have not got the time to keep trying to fix this as a complete amateur.

Any advice would be greatly received.

    Hi eightriversblog!

That is a bummer that you cannot get into your site :( From the sounds of it – since you are also having an issue with your cart not being updated after items are added it might be a cookies issue.

Cookies are items that allow a browser to ‘remember’ what is happening on a site and allows for things to run such as logins, or cart items. If you have cookies disabled this can cause the issues you are seeing. Try this site:

    https://www.whatismybrowser.com/guides/how-to-enable-cookies/

to match your browser and follow the steps to enable cookies to see if that works. More information on cookies in general with WordPress.com can be found here:

Let us know if it works or if you need anything else!

Hi there, for what site is this, please? The site at eightriversblog.wordpress.com is empty of user-generated content.

If by chance you are talking about a site using the standalone WP software, in the future you’ll want to post at the support forums at https://wordpress.org/support If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on that page.

Standalone WP and WordPressdotcom are different entities; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hello Jennifer, I believe I should have posted in the .org forums. Sorry for that.
