Hi there,
I’ve taken the time to look into your website and noticed that it’s actually using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by a different provider.
WordPress.org is the same foundational software we use here at WordPress.com, but it’s set up a little differently. Because of this, the specific help you may need can be different. To get the most appropriate help for your issue, I’d recommend posting your question in the official WordPress.org support forums, which you can find here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
That said, I would also like to mention an alternative for you. You can migrate your website to WordPress.com. We are a managed-hosting platform, which means we take care of all the maintenance and security tasks so that you can focus on creating content for your website. We also offer dedicated WordPress support through both email and live chat to ensure your questions or issues are handled promptly and efficiently.
If this sounds like something that could interest you, we’ve built an easy-to-use tool specifically for migrating WordPress sites from other platforms to WordPress.com. You can learn more about how to use this tool here: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/
You can also take a look at our various plans and what they offer on this page: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you have any other questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, don’t hesitate to let me know.

When I tried to login to the wordpress.org forum I got an error, “Error: The username bethesdagarden is not registered on WordPress.org.” However, I am able to login to wordpress.com using that username. Can you please help me with this issue? To provide more detail. I am able to login to wordpress.com, but when I login to WP Admin with the correct credentials I get an error “This page isn’t workingbethesdagardendesign.com is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500.” I have tried reseting the password, but I keep getting the same error. Other things that are strange is that when I look under “Users” I see three users, but they are all listed as “Viewer”, when I would expect the “bethesdagarden” user to be an “Admin.” Also, when I click under many of the tabs I see an error “Jetpack encounters REST API connection issues.” So there is definitely something going on, but I’m not sure how to troubleshoot. Can you please help me? Also, is it possible to do a live chat instead of using the forum? I didn’t see a way to do it. Thank you.

Hey there,
Happy to help you with this.
When I tried to login to the wordpress.org forum I got an error, “Error: The username bethesdagarden is not registered on WordPress.org.” However, I am able to login to wordpress.com using that username. Can you please help me with this issue?
I think there’s some confusion happening here, and rest assured this confusion is very common…
To explain there are two types of WordPress. The first is WordPress.com. At WordPress.com, we provide a fully managed hosting service with a custom server environment that is specifically optimized for WordPress. Our managed hosting service offers built-in security and performance improvements, along with in-house support for any questions or issues you may have with your site.
The second is WordPress.org – which is where the free, open source software can be downloaded and installed on a server. The two are considered completely different and separate, and more on this can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
So, whilst you may have an account with WordPress.com, you wouldn’t necessarily have an account with WordPress.org unless one was created.
when I login to WP Admin with the correct credentials I get an error “This page isn’t workingbethesdagardendesign.com is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500.”
It sounds like you’re using self-hosted WordPress, and something on the chosen host is failing to load, or the theme is failing to load, which is why you’re getting the 500 error.
Thank you.
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting, and Live Chat would not be available to you at this time.
However, you do have the option to migrate your site to WordPress.com, where we can provide you with in-house help to ensure that your website is running smoothly, and see what could be causing that 500 error. We have an easy-to-use migration plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/), which you can use to migrate your site to WordPress.com.
Please note that this feature is only available for Business plan users.
We understand that moving your site may seem like a daunting task, but we believe that the benefits of our fully managed hosting service far outweigh the effort involved in migrating your site. With our optimized server environment and customized version of WordPress, you’ll have access to the best possible hosting service for your WordPress website.
However, if you choose not to migrate your site to WordPress.com, don’t worry! We want to make sure you still receive the help you need. The good news is that the open-source WordPress forums are available to provide you with support. The folks in that forum are experts in WordPress and are in the best position to help you with any issues you may be experiencing.
We hope this information is helpful, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. We don’t want to migrate the site at this time. But would still like help with this issue we are having. How do I post in the open-source WordPress forums to get help? The last time I tried to post in https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting it required me to login, but I wasn’t able to login. It didn’t recognize my username: bethesdagarden. I got an error saying, “Error: The username bethesdagarden is not registered on WordPress.org.”

Hi @bethesdagarden,
It didn’t recognize my username: bethesdagarden. I got an error saying, “Error: The username bethesdagarden is not registered on WordPress.org.”
You’ll need to create an account there if you haven’t already. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two separate sites; they don’t use our logins there. Use the “Register” link in the upper right, then you can log in and post as needed.
Regarding your password troubles on your own site, your host may be able to help you make backups and use one of these recovery options.
Hoping this helps!
