can't login to wordpress site

    I’m trying to login to my wordpress site to add new blogs, change content, but it’s not working and shows an error 406 each time I try to login. I have reset the password in the hope it will help, which I receive and it still won’t work and allow me to login. This always seems to happen after I’ve done a wordpress update. Please sort out as I desperately need access to my site. Thank you. http://www.aprilchandler.com/login

    The WordPress.COM forums are to help with blogs hosted at WordPress. the WordPress.ORG forums are meant to help with blogs hosted elsewhere. More info about the difference can be found here:

    https://login.wordpress.org/ is the login to get into the WordPress.ORG forums.

    In general, a 406 error code is the web service telling you that it was expecting one kind of data but saw something else and so rejected it. It looks like you need to talk to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to sort this out. Changing your password here at WordPress.COM will not have any effect elsewhere.

    Hi Dave,

    thanks for your response.

    I access my wordpress site through my website, hence including it, but unfortunately when I get to the wordpress login page, I enter my username and password, press submit and it comes up with error 406 – not acceptable and won’t allow me to login.

    I’ve read blogs about plugins etc.. but I can’t even get to my dashboard to see plugins, or make changes. I followed advice to rename FTP with my host, but that hasn’t helped either.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    I am sorry you are having this difficulty, but from what you are telling us, the login for your WordPress installation lives where your website does. It may be that your ISP is having “technical challenges”, and may be in a better position to assist.

    The fact that you are able to log in here at WordPress.COM has no bearing on logins with your hosting company, or on installations there.

    You might have better luck asking the forums at WordPress.ORG, it may well be that someone over there has experienced this very same issue.
