can't login with matched username to a address changed blog

first I created the blog with account name “scauw”, which gives me a scauw.wordpress.com address
then I changed it from “scauw” to “sparkpost”. When I changed it, I selected to get a new user name to match up the new address.——– However, I can’t login with “sparkpost”, I am still logging in with “scauw”. The weirder thing is when add a new post, I can choose two author names, “sparkpost” and “sparkpost”, which probably one of them is “scauw”
This is very weird. Looks like it keeps the old one for me too? but if I go to scauw.wordpress.com it does show something totally different from sparkpost.wordpress.com

Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then see if you can log in with the matching username. Did you get a new password for that username?

I used the easiest way to test out whether it has to do with cache and cookies. By using Incognito mode in Chrome, I still cannot login with the new username.
The issue gets annoying because sometimes I messed up which is the right author while posting, there are two “sparkpost”, but one is the “scauw” actually.
