Can’t make Jetpack work

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

After several years of trying to make Jetpack a success it’s caused more issues than solved them. I’m about to remove all my sites and ditch Jetpack altogether.

I’m considered an expert on WordPress now so if I can’t get this to work there must be others out there too. I’m not a coder yet every page I find wants us to make complex changes to get Jetpack to work. My conclusion?

Way too much fanfare and not enough support. Here is what I’ve tried to do and failed and it seems these things are getting worse too.

    # NO diagnostic tool found to do this quickly without searching through a barrage of geek related pages that only coders would understand

    # None of my sites are connected any more despite making crucial changes and enabling the XML-RPC settings both in Ninja Firewall and in Jetpack by whitelisting with the latest IP addresses you give us.

Still nothing, still no jetpack despite it telling me my sites are connected, that’s not what it says in the WP admin area of wordpress.com They’re all red!

Constant warnings about being disconnected and sites down by using Jetpack.
I think this whole Jetpack thing needs a new overhaul and you need to give us some tools that diagnose and fix issues quickly. We don’t have time to initiate all the requests you make, despite having done so already.

Disappointed in the free version , what’s the point of spending on the upgrade?

Can’t use the feature suggested on my post page of making my posts public at WP.

Too many hoops to get to contact you as well, arrgh we don’t have time to try and find the various issues in thousands of forums. Do you want to ask in the forums with no option available is not a question, I want to contact you directly.

    Kind Regards
    Brett Young

  • Hi Brett,

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having a frustrating experience with Jetpack, but I’m afraid we’re not able to help with these issues here. The WordPress.com forums you’ve posted to here primarily provide support for free sites hosted on WordPress.com. We’re able to help to a limited extent with WordPress.com-specific features in Jetpack, but we’re not able to provide in-depth support with technical issues for that plugin.

I see you also submitted an email support ticket. That’s currently waiting in the Jetpack support queue, so I’m going to close this forum thread in favour of that. Someone from the Jetpack team will reply to you via email there.

Technical support for the free version of the Jetpack plugin is provided in that plugin’s forum at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
