Can’t make mapping existing domain work

    2. I added existing domain ardenoaks.com to the ardenoakstc.wordpress.com blog.

    3. I changed name servers for existing domain ardenoaks.com (at Verio) to ns1.wordpress.com, etc., which have propagated.

    4. QUESTION #1: At this point should both ardenoakstc.wordpress.com and ardenoaks.com launch the blog? [Oops, ardenoaks.com does not work]

    5. In ardenoakstc.wordpress.com blog, I updated the primary domain to be: ardenoaks.com

    6. As documentation says, this does redirect ardenoakstc.wordpress.com to ardenoaks.com; but it still does not work; so at this point neither domain works.

    7. Fortunately since I left the original blog open in a browser this whole time, I was able to reset the primary domain to: ardenoakstc.wordpress.com, which stopped the forwarding (else I would have locked myself out of my blog)

    8. QUESTION #2: Any suggestions what I’m doing wrong?

    Your domain ardenoaks.com is still pointing to these name servers:

    ns19b.nameservers.net.
    ns19a.nameservers.net.

    You will need to log into your domain registrar’s control panel and update the name servers. (TUCOWS.com?)

    naokomc, thank you. Your response helped and I got it working; here’s what I learned, which I enter here because it could help others:

    My existing domain is managed at Verio, although TUCOWS is the resgistrar.

    The problem was I edited the name servers in the Verio zone file, which it accepted and showed the NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, etc name servers. But it did not correctly propagate the changes. So you saw the Verio defaults were still active.

    Verio tech advised not to edit NS records from the zone file as it does not behave right, and showed me the best method to change name servers in their control panel, which is through an obvious selection of the ‘Choose Action’ dropdown in the domain name list panel.

    Everything worked when I reset the zone file to Verio defaults, and then used the ‘Choose Action’ dropdown.
