Can’t make my website that I’m building private?

    Hello, I’ve found online that the easiest way to make my website private is to go Settings – Privacy and change it from Public to Private. However, there is no menu of the sort offering anything similar. The only thing I get is the information about privacy policy and advice on how I should construct it. That’s ALL there is under Settings – Privacy. It’s really annoying that I have to lose so much time for something that simple.

    I think you are searching under the account settings tab that why the options are different for you.

    The Steps that you need to follow are:
    1. Click on My Sites (In the top left corner of the screen)
    2. The dashboard will appear then click on Manage tab on the left side of the screen.
    3. Select the Settings tab from the submenu that appears.
    4. You will see that the settings screen appears on the right side of the screen.
    5. Scroll down to get Privacy option.

    I don’t know what your starting point is. I don’t see “My Sites” anywhere.

    I think I understand what you are saying now but I have a different problem. I have created my WordPress account and a free website a long time ago (wordpress.com site) that I don’t use now but I’ve used that account to log in here.

    I have created a whole other site on a domain that I purchased (so this time not a wordpress.com) and I am trying to build a website via WordPress on that domain. I used the same email that I did when creating the free WP site before, but when I tried to log in to WP to ask a question to support I couldn’t with my new credentials, I could only with those from the old free website.

    I haven’t purchased the domain or hosting from Worpress just to note if it matters. Anyway, I published that new site while it’s still under construction and I just want to make it invisible for the public for the time being. That is all I want and I can’t believe that I have to go through all this trouble to get there.

    Things can work differently here compared to a site hosted elsewhere that uses the wordpress software. You’ll need to find a plugin to make your site private.
