Can’t make post sticky anymore
-
Hi there,
I posted a review today, but the option ‘stick to the top of the page didn’t appear. This is my post: https://theaderks.wordpress.com/2024/09/04/dutch-national-opera-presents-rigoletto-as-a-mental-wreck-in-a-psychiatric-clinic/
Unfortunately the post is indeed not appearing on the front page. (Shame I can’t upload a screenshot here.)
I have cleared the cache, updated my browser (Chrome), tried another browser (Microsoft Edge), but nothing helps. The access & Visibiltiy section is simply not popping up. I’ve checked my other blog https://klassiekvannu.wordpress.com/ -same problem there.
How can I solve this issue? Thanks for your help! Thea
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see that post if I scroll TO THE VERY BOTTOM of your front page. Are all the posts above it set as stickies?? I think the “sticky” idea is just meant for one or two posts. Most people use that feature if they want to keep an “about me” or “about this blog” at the top for visitors. Perhaps unstickying a few older posts would help.

thanks. Indeed I have to make all my posts sticky, because other Wise They do not appear in order of publishing. I no longer get the option, nor is the visibility bos appearing. Same goes for my other blog, where I didn’t make any post sticky.
Also I can’t ‘unstick’ the previous posts, for if I click on them, the visibility/sticky option doesn’t pop up. How can I solve this? I’m rather desperate.

You haven’t mentioned if you are using the Classic Editor or the Block Editor, but when checking my test site (currently using a block theme), I can see the Sticky option in both interfaces.
If you are using the Classic Editor, click on “Visibility” in the Publish module in the sidebar and you should see the Sticky option there.
If you are using the Block Editor, in the Post tab click on “Status”, and the Sticky option appears at the bottom of the list that opens.
Here are temporary screenshots
To add a screenshot here, add the Image Block by typing
/imageand then you’ll see the option of uploading or inserting by URL -
How is it you want your blog posts to sort in general? If it is reverse chronological order, i.e. the newest post appearing on top, that is the default order of all WordPress sites.

thanks! In the classical editor the sticky ootion isn’t appearing either… I have managed to ‘unstick’ the other posts, though. But the status/visibility options appeat nowhere….

Wow, just found the sticky option. WP has hidden it deep down.. thanks for the screenshots, they were most helpful!!

You’re welcome.
I’d take @themagicrobot’s advice and use that sticky post option sparingly.

Thanks again, I have ‘unsticked’ all the sticky items, and will not use the option anymore :-) Best, Thea
