Can't map existing external domain to free wordpress.com account

    Here’s a video online of what I’m trying to do and can’t because it’s trying to sell me a premium package as well like this video:

    **Clicking Map It like shown in video isn’t working either**

    Please assist so I can pay the 13.00 USD and get my blog’s domain correctly mapped.

    Hello there,

    Domain Mapping upgrades cannot be purchased separately now. In order to map a domain to your site you will need to buy a plan. The Personal Plan is the least expensive, you can select it by visiting here: https://wordpress.com/plans/.

    Basically, WordPress.com has removed the ability to perform this valuable function?

    Yes, I’ve tried to just get the payment option for the $13 USD like the video in my prior post, but that option keeps disappearing when it used to function if you clicked the hyperlink Map It! once the URL had been entered into the textbox which gave the yellow message box to just map for existing wordpress.com accounts [including free]

    If you use the “Free” account plan, there isn’t a way to just paypal $13 USD anymore?

    I see someone has added that tag for me already! Word up!

    As you can tell, I am not able to pay the $13.00 USD for the domain mapping which I was able to show is payable when you try map the domain using a free account on wordpress.com in that video.

    I’ve also on my account had a happiness engineer setup domain mapping for $13 USD in chat. Miss those days! Just looking for that next step to sort this issue like the first video in this thread.

    Hi there,

    The video you reference is not an official WordPress.com support video, and the information provided there is out of date.

    As @ackaeser has already told you, it’s not possible to map a domain to a WordPress.com site without adding a plan to the site first. This is clearly stated in our domain support document you linked to yourself above:

    Do you already own a domain name? If you would like to use it here on WordPress.com all you need to do is “map” your existing domain to your site. You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain.

    Thank you all for your support and responses. It would be nice if they had left the free plan domain mapping feature, before they decided to expire in 2017.

    Please bring back the $13.00 USD Domain Mapping For Free Plans.
