Can’t map my domain

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m trying to map my domain name TRUETIMETOOLS.COM to my blog according to the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/.

    I’m trying to update my domain’s name servers using the web-interface provided by the registrar to the names
    shown in the instruction.

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    but I see the error message there:

    “Can’t get the SOA record. The indicated DNS-server does not support the zone. You have to contact with DNS-server
    administration to fix the problem. After that you can repeat the request on the DNS-server update.”

    On the other hand, I can’t add a domain in the dashboard.
    The diagnostic message says that domain mapping must be paid for.
    And that “We were unable to verify that truetimetools.com is pointing to WordPress.com.”
    ” How to fix it
    Using the DNS tools provided by your domain registrar, remove any existing nameservers and add the following:
    * NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    * NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    * NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
    Then come back here and try again. It may take several hours for our system to recognize the changes.”

    But that’s what I tried to do from the registrar side without success.
    Maybe I should pay for the mapping before adding?

    Is there anybody who can explain what I’m doing wrong?

    It frequently takes 72 hours for a domain URL change to populate throughout the internet. This is the link for contacting Staff > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    Dear TimeThief,

    I know about 72 hours etc. but the problem is that I can not change the DNS names via the registrar at all. So can’t proceed the step 1 of Instructions.

    The error message from the registrar site when I’m trying to set new names:

    “Can’t get the SOA record. The indicated DNS-server does not support the zone. You have to contact with DNS-server
    administration to fix the problem. After that you can repeat the request on the DNS-server update.”

    Have you asked for Staff help?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes, I did!

    But there is no reply after more than 24 hours. May be its OK I don’t know.

    I mean I wrote to the WordPress support.

    Good then all you have to do is patiently wait for Staff to get back to you.

    The zone record was added by Hanni, Happiness Engineer, Automattic.
    Now I had set the new DNS names via registrar tools.

    Thanks!
