Can’t Post at all

  Hi,

  New here. I joined one WordPress blog and just set up two. I can add and name pages
  so I thought I was fine, but I can’t post. If I click on title, I get a curser and can
  delete and type, but the post box beneath the title won’t give me a curser. I did cut and paste into one blog, but now I can’t seem to do that either. Is something
  set wrong? My fault? Where do I look? Thanks for your help. (glad I got a curser here.)

  Would help if you told us your browser and OS. :)

  Have you tried clicking with your mouse within the editor’s window?

  You might want to try the normal text editor over the rich text editor that it defaults to. You can change between them at your Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile -> The check box at the bottom of the page.

  Thanks, DrMike, changing to normal text editor did the trick. Thought it would something simple like that, just didn’t know where to look. I’ve been using Blogger, but WordPress seems a bit more techie to me. Where could I find a list or dictionary of terms. Like what the hecks a slug? And do all themes take widgets. Widgets?

  Very first question of the FAQ. :)

  Slug – When you make a Post, the software will take the title of the Post and make it into the URL of the Post. That’s the slug. You’ll understand more after you make a Post or two. My suggestion is to make a test post, go back and edit it, and take a look at the Post Slug box along the right hand side of the Edit Post page. You should understand it when you see it.

  Not all these take widgets but most of them do here. Easy way to tell is turn on a theme in question and look at see if you have an option labeled “Sidebar Widgets”

  Widgets – Widgets were created to allow some modifications to the themes here. Since the software we run here has us share the themes among all of the users on the servers, any modifications made to them go into effect for all of the users who use that theme. This allows folsk to make changed to their sidebar with out messing anyone else up. You can see an explaination of them here.
