Can’t post comments on blogs or subscribe to email notifications

Hi
I have a profile on WordPress of several years standing. Something weird has just started happening.
I’ve just tried to (a) subscribe to an email newsletter, and (b) post a comment to PickingUpRocks. WordPress tells me my attempt to subscribe was unsuccessful. Please try again with a valid email address.
The email address I’m trying to use is perfectly valid, and I have been using it for years. When I try to post comments, they just don’t appear. This has been happening with other WordPress sites I subscribe to for several weeks now. I’d appreciate your help to resolve this.

Can you please tell us the full URL of the site you’re trying to subscribe to?
And can you give a link to a post where you recently left a comment that didn’t post?

Not sure what the issue was with subscribing to pickinguprocks.com. You are entering the email address you have here, yes? https://wordpress.com/me/account/
I tried that email address on pickinguprocks.com and it seems to have worked. Can you confirm that you got a “Confirmation email” on your end? I used your icloud address, so you should see it in your inbox.
And this is a post of a blog I’ve posted comments on several times, but now can’t:
I do see that you have posted on that blog in the past. When you tried this last time (and were unable) did you get an error message of some kind, or some other odd behavior when attempting to leave your comment?
And what if you try now to either leave your comment again, or a smaller comment as a test. Does it work now whereas it did not work before?
