Can't post to Facebook

For the first time, today I could not post my blog to Facebook. Usually I paste in the direct URL, which then causes a cascading window below with a thumbnail of the blog. I type in a little blurb on the top, and publish. But today, it won’t publish. I tried several times, in three different browsers. At one point, FB asked me to type in a security word, but that didn’t help either. I was able to publish the link as a status update only, with no thumbnail below. Any suggestions? Is this a wordpress issue or should I pursue with FB? Many thanks!

There appear to be lots of problems with posting to Facebook lately. http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#troubleshooting If you try the full reconnect procedure detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-facebook including step 3 (removing the FB app), which is probably the most important step and it’s not successful there are 2 alternatives aside from manually posting.
Alternatively you can use Networked Blogs http://www.networkedblogs.com/ or RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer. RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify. You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

Thanks for the feedback. I should have mentioned that I manually add my URLs each time, and do not have an automated publishing through WordPress. I’m guessing since the FB problems seem widespread today, I should just hang low and see if things can resolve themselves.

There are those who (1) cannot manually post links to Facebook, (2) there are those who cannot use the Facebook share button, (3) and there are those who are having trouble with using publicize. I have flagged the threads for Staff attention.

I am using Chrome (19.0.1084.52), Safari (5.0.6) and Firefox (4.0.1). None work. I went to the troubleshooting page on Facebook, and apparently this problem is systemwide.

Yeah, judging by other threads, it’s definitely a problem on Facebook’s end, and I recommend contacting them.
Meanwhile, you should definitely upgrade Firefox. They’re at version 12 now.
