Can't print blog from Firefox or IE browsers
-
I’ve printed pages and posts from my blog for friends before, but now suddenly can’t do so from my preferred browser FireFox, nor IE. It does print in Chrome and Safari however, but I don’t wish to use those and one of my disabled friends can’t. I tried all the Firefox tricks to solve (removing add-ons, safe mode, margins, etc.) and no dice. (Again, it worked last month). Any ideas? I’m on Windows 7 pro 64 bit. TIA.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What exactly happens when you click print?
Frustratingly, in my experience, virtually all print problems end up being a browser/operating system/printer issue of some sort. There is little we can do from this end for those types of things.

Thanks for at least replying. In Firefox and IE, I get no content on the page. You can tell just by clicking print preview (and save paper). Yet other sites (and browsers) work. And, I used to be able to print mine, no problem. No new add-ons, nothing changed. Just wham, can’t print now. (Neither can my friend across town suddenly who tipped me off to the problem the other day).
I CAN still print using Chrome, but that’s beside the point – it used to work in FF and IE, now it doesn’t. (And many prefer those 2 browsers to Chrome for a variety of reason, including reading assistance software compatibility). I changed nothing knowingly. Now I have to become a technician to solve either Mozilla’s or WP’s problems for free, and I’ve got bigger medical fish to fry, if you’ll pardon the pun. (I’m disabled by the condition described on my blog). Thanks for “listening”.

Just so we’re testing the same thing, can you give me a specific post or page on your site that will not print for you so I can try and print it?

Frankly any of them will do (none print in FF or IE for me), but this was the new page I added that my friend (and I) could not print as detailed above, thanks: http://ohtwist.com/about-eds/tips-for-doctors/

I am completely stumped. It isn’t our theme, because I have no problem using that theme on another site and printing. And I, like you, can print with other browsers (chrome and safari in my case).

It is confounding. To add to our confusion, my WP coach just said she CAN print my blog from her FF and IE browsers. Alas, she didn’t say what OS, and versions yet – I’ll try to get that next. (I’m using FF v 35.0.1 on Win 7 Home 64 bit). Thanks.

And… when she went back to check, now SHE also can’t print preview or print from FF or IE as she first found. She suggested there may be someone wrong with my stylesheets (CSS). I’ve never touched them – I’m ignorant of CSS, and literally don’t know how. I’ve totally just “plugged and played” with the site. She sent me this info to back that hunch up which is all greek (meaningless) to me, sorry, but in case it helps: https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fohtwist.com%2F&profile=css3&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

She suggested I try another theme briefly to see if it clears up. I’ll try to do that soon also, carefully. (Thankfully I don’t have much customization) And will let you know how that goes. I gotta run right now though. HTH.

Yeah, that’s why I tested the theme on my own test site. If there was a CSS issue with the theme itself, it should have shown up in my test.

Ah, roger that. Tho again, she seems to think I may have somehow altered my CSS within the theme (i.e, my copy may now be “corrup”), so while “untouched” Zoren seems to be fine, perhaps I have somehow, unknowingly altered mine, though I have no idea how that is. I will try switching themes soon to see what that does for me. I’m out the door for the rest of the weekend just now though. Thanks.

Good, I didn’t think so… but she thought I did somehow. Could widgets be the problem? I could try turning them off one by one too. The quest continues… later, thanks.

Switching themes allowed me to print in FF and IE again, but I’ve switched back until i decide which other Theme I might really like to go with. Gonna start diddling with widgets next, but I agree, I doubt they are the problem. What a pain this is turning out to be…
