Can't purchase domain mapping.

  • Unknown's avatar

I own my domain and have created a DNS CNAME but wordpress won’t take the payment

Can’t purchase domain mapping. It keeps returning to: DNS CNAME for blog.espint.com needs to point to espinternationalco.wordpress.com. The CNAME does already exist in my GoDaddy DNS and is publicly resolvable.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

If you want to purchase domain mapping upgrade then read and act on what follows.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.

See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

if you already have a website you don’t want to affect, and you want to add a blog to it under a subdomain (for example, blog.yourgroovydomain.com) see here http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/

After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I have read and am following the process above without a problem. My CNAME is registered with GoDaddy and publically resolves blog.espint.com to espinternationalco.wordpress.com.

I move on down through setting up the sub domain, enter credit card info and click purchase. The page always comes back with the same purchase page but with red flagged text stating “DNS CNAME for blog.espint.com needs to point to espinternationalco.wordpress.com.” As I said, it does. What’s the problem?

    Hi Jeff,

At what point are you getting the warning about DNS?

When adding an additional domain mapping, the steps which I take are:

    Go to my Dashboard
    Go to the Store Menu
    Select My Domains
Click on Map a Domain Name you Already Own
    Enter “blog.espint.com”
    Click Go
Click Yes, I already own this domain name. Map it to my WordPress.com blog.
    Enter payment information.
Click Purchase Domain Mapping for $13.00 USD.

Was it during this process you were getting the error or some point afterwards?
