Can't Receive Email in Google Apps.
-
I can send email from google apps but can’t get any email sent to *anyone*@pixelhose.com – I have reviewed (again and again) all MX records and the fact that I can send email from *anyone*@pixelhose means google apps is set up properly. DNSSTUFF.COM seems to also report correct MX values.
Still can’t receive email sent to *anyone*@pixlehose.com
Please help. This is really been quite frustrating.
Thanks,
Bob

Your TXT record does not appear to have been entered correctly.
Please review steps 7 – 9 of http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/

Thanks for your reply.
ALL the DNS records were generated by WordPress. I did not enter any values there.
That aside, I did try to follow the instructions again but Google Apps won’t let me “back” in the Verification process since it has already verified the site.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am on my fifth very frustrating day of trying to get WordPress and Google Apps working in a way that I can actually use the blog.
Thanks again for any help.

Yes, it looks like Google broke the built-in verification method, which seems to happen often, and why we recommend getting the TXT record.
We should probably just remove that option since Google enjoys breaking it.
To get the TXT record, go back to http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html and login to Domain Management and go to Setup -> Domain Verification.
If the options aren’t there, I’m afraid you’ll need to contact Google for further assistance.

Thanks for the note.
I am actually convinced that the problem is at the WordPress end and not Google’s since WP genereated all the records in the custom DNS. It seems that this is a particularly weak part of WP and, being related to a paid option (custom DNS), it would make sense for the WP engineers to may be take a look at how you folks are handling this. Personally, I don’t see why WP did not simply provide an email forwarding service.
At this point I think I’m going to give it until Monday to figure this out. If not, I’ll move the blog to another provider and will be back asking for refunds for all the custom stuff. Not a lot of money and I would’ve been happy to pay for email forwarding too. The waste of time is simply not acceptable, regardless of reason, and as much as I like the template, it’ll be faster for me to find a new template on another provider than bounce between WP and Google “support”.
Thanks, once more, for your note.
Have a great day…

I’m sorry to say that everything looks correct on our end but the TXT verification record.
This must be acquired through Google, it’s not something that we can do for you.

Thank again for your note.
For the record, I wasn’t asking for you to fix this problem. I am, however, strongly suggesting that WordPress engineers take a look at how you folks are handling this. Not only it is annoying for a paid service, it simply is horrible engineering, IMO since, again, I did NOT generate those records. I simply followed the instructions I found. Now, I am sure that is going to get a “yeah, right” so w/o insisting that I did everything right, you folks do need to take a look at how you are handling this custom DNS + email.
Either way, we have absolutely established here is that WordPress is NOT free… The only question for me to answer now is whether or not the price you folks are exacting in terms of my time and delayed launch is worth my effort.
