Can't register a domain

  I am trying to buy a domain through WordPress. When I go to godaddy and whois.net it says the domain is available and hasn’t been registered, but WordPress says its not available.
  I tried using other keywords in the Wordress domain registration keeps telling me they have already been registered.

  Is the system down or something. I am getting annoyed. I really would prefer to buy my domain from WordPress, rather than GoDaddy.

  I was wondering if it was something wrong on their end… I even put in a crazy domain no one would buy to see if it would work. Still said the domain was already registered.

  I am having the same problem. I just checked yesterday and what I wanted was available, but today WordPress says it’s not available. I checked other domain registrations, and it says it’s available.

  I’m suspecting WP.com may have disabled domain buying over the weekends, when there are fewer staff around. If that’s correct, they forgot to let anyone know or put the safeguards in place. There are just so many of these reports around this weekend.

  I had a problem too. I paid for a domain+email last night and they took my money, but I have nothing to show for it. Not even a receipt other than from paypal.

  It seems to be working for me now. Just purchased my domain.

  pushingyourpixels.com now waiting for it to activate.

  Hi all – we were having some issues with domain registrations, but they seem to be working correctly now.
