Can\'t rename blog
-
Our church youth blog, southsideyouth, was deleted long ago by me. Now I want to create a new personal wordpress account but I can’t because my email address is still somehow associated with the old blog southsideyouth. I can log into southsideyouth, see my email address, but am not allowed to changes the name southsideyouth to something new. I can’t get to the dashboard tools to make changes. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I’m sorry but you can’t start a blog with the same name. There is no recycling of deleted blog URLS here at wordpress.com.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can purchase a domain name via a domain mapping upgrade as in that case it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Username accounts are not deleted. For more information, please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
