can't renew domain

  Sorry if this is posted twice – my first post isn’t showing up in the forums.

  I got an email saying I need to renew my domain name, but when I try I am only able to upgrade, which I don’t want to do. My domain expires on August 1 (by the way, thanks for almost no warning, WordPress! I only got the email a week ago), so I’m in a bit of a time crunch here.

  My WP account is swingfxnyc.wordpress.com, but the website is syncopatedcity.org – which is actually on Wix.com, so I really don’t know what’s going on here.

  syncopatedcitydance, yes the domain belongs to a different user. Please open your own support request about that: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  Please log as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrade for it.

  I am an administrator and thought I WAS the owner. Is there a staff person who can please tell me the name registered as the owner?

  Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

  You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and renew any upgrades for the blog. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

  Thanks, I put in a recovery request, we’ll see what happens.

  Having said that, on the thread I responded to yesterday (linked above), the staff person gave the first name of the owner to the original poster. I would be perfectly fine if the entire internet knew that person’s first name, if it enables me to renew my account before August 1 to avoid the mammoth headache not doing so would result in.

  The owner of the domain syncopatedcity.org is Brian — you can also find him listed in this list of users:

  Brian will need to log in to renew that domain on his My Upgrades page, or contact us directly if he needs any further help with that domain.

  Thanks so much. Unfortunately, Brian no longer works with us and regardless is out of the country until September. Is there any way we can get an extension, and/or switch the owner?

  We can’t change the domain owner without the current owner requesting it. I’m sending you an email so we can discuss your options for that domain — please let me know if you don’t receive that email from me.
