Can't 'renew' our website

    When I click on ‘Renew It Now’, it only gives me the option to upgrade. When I click on that, it indicates that we have the free plan. However, it still says our website expired. What do I do? Our website is down and we need it! All we need is the basic free plan, so I don’t understand this whole process. We are not-for-profit.

    are you logged in as the owner of the upgrades?

    what is the site (full URL beginning with http) you need help with and the custom domain name if any?

    Also if there is a gap in the expire date and today – the new upgrade bundle makes it hard to renew your upgrades – but the staff can fix that for you

    Is this for the domain, http://www.greenwoodkids.org/ ? I can see that domain is registered with us, but you appear to be using it with a self-hosted site, correct?

    That domain has indeed expired 17 days ago. It is still possible to get it back at this stage, but you will have to log in as the account that owns that domain. This account is not the owner of that domain, so you won’t be able to renew it via this account.

    Someone else set up this website for us, then he moved away. We have no idea what we are doing! I don’t know what a self-hosted site is. We pay godaddy.com every month, but they say we have to renew through you. I don’t understand it at all. Please help!!!!!!

  • A self-hosted site refers to a site not hosted on WordPress.com. In other words, your domain is here, but your website isn’t. Your website is with GoDaddy, which is why you pay them for hosting, but your domain is with us.

    While you don’t own the domain, you can still renew it as a gift to the owner. I have sent you an email to help you with that.
