can’t reply to a comment…
-
someone made a comment to my first post, and I have replying to it when I’m logged out of WordPress, giving a different email addres – anything! still can’t reply to this comment. any help would be great.

It’s important to understand that the email address you used for your wordpress blog registration must be the one you use to log-in to wordpress and to reply to comments on your blog from.
It would help if you would please point to or leave the link to the comment you are referring to.
I see one post on your front page with comments. It is “Entering the new year with sweetness”. I also see your reply to the comment there. Here it is:# Myself Says:
January 7th, 2007 at 9:55 pm(not sure if WordPress has this reply to comment feature ironed out yet…so, here goes) yes, I think you are right about that – I will always have them with me. five represents four (the number of people in my immediate family). Since four is a bad luck number in Chinese culture, I threw in another sweet potato for warding off the bad vibes :-)!
I’m not clear what your problem is so I left an test comment on the same post and asked you to reply to it. To reply to it you simply log-in to your wordpress blog and then type into the comment box like any reader would.

thanks for the reply, but, that is exactly what I’ve been doing for days now, to no avail. thanks for the test though.

This will definitely not work ever:
“have replying to it when I’m logged out of WordPress, giving a different email addres”
If you have been (1) logging in to wordpress correctly and (2) from the same email address you registered with wordpress to get your blog with (3)and it still isn’t working then your best bet is to send in a feedback and wait for staff to deal with this tomorrow.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. -
ah, just to clarify…I can reply to the post fine – as long as I’m not logged into WordPress…
-
That is totally weird … and should not be happening. In any event sending in a feedback (button on the top right hand corner of any blog page) is your only recourse as volunteers do not have backend access, only staff do.
There is a work-around you could use in the meantime and that’s to go into your Manage -> Comments find my comment and edit it placing your reply at the bottom of it. In that case then using italics or bold letters is helpful to differentiate the two ie. the comment and your reply. You can see an example of using the work-around here http://timethief.wordpress.com/2007/01/06/post-carbon-institute-relocalization-network/

it’s nice of your to take the time to suss this issue out. I will have to try to get a hold of the WP personnel.

Please send in a feedback with a link back to this thread in it so they know that it has been discussed on the forum. :)

Soneone posted a comment on my post. I do not get an option to reply but only to leave a comment. Please help I want to reply directly to them.
-
WordPress.com blogs are not set up that way. You can either edit the comment and add your response or you can post a new comment. If you want, you can say “@ so-and-so” to indicate which commenter you’re replying to.
-
you can’t reply directly to a comment, sorry. you are supposed to leave a comment to a blog post only.
super web 2.0 doesn’t have a mere notion about threaded comments.
-
dervi05: you could reply directly to a comment by editing the comment. add yours below and bold it to differentiate between your reply and your commenter’s comment. i do that for my blog.
